Winter Anime 2013 First Impressions (Part 2)

This is the part 2 of my First Impressions of this season’s anime series. You can read the first part here.

Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun

Hakkenden

Comment: Er- What can I say? This anime is not for me. It was boring and I kinda forced myself to finish the first episode. I don’t know what to expect from this one. I feel some hints of shounen-ai from the opening sequence, or is it just me? LOL. By the way, I can hear Natsu Dragneel’s (Fairy Tail) voice from the main character Shino which could’ve been a plus if only it was interesting.

Verdict: Ummm, well, this is not bad but not interesting enough for me to follow this season

Love Live! School Idol Project

Love Live

Comment: The Good – It has good graphics and nice character designs. The animation, especially during the girls performance, is great. The Bad – Annoying main character. The girls are being overly problematic about their school shutting down. What can three girls do to stop it anyway? Well, I know they will be able to pull it off BIG time in the end.

Verdict: Not interested. But I might try it some other time… maybe.

Mondaiji-Taichi ga Isekai kara kuru sou desu yo?

mondaijiComment: Geez, such a long title. I feel pretty hopeless about Mondaiji after the first two boring series above. Not to mention the art is below the quality of the first two. But… This is pretty much interesting. The characters are remarkable, especially the guy, Izayoi. He’s such a badass and I like it. The two other girls are equally appealing. However, I still don’t know where this anime is going. Gamble? Game? Magic? Hmmm. Well, after watching it, I don’t feel like I watched an anime. How do I put it? It was way too childish? Or maybe its just the art.

Verdict: I might watch another episode.

Tamako Market

tamako market

Comment: Moe. Elite talking bird. Mochi. Tamako Market is a good and relaxing anime to watch. The first episode pretty much covered who “Tamako” is in that shopping district. The interactions among the characters are pretty much enjoyable to watch. Since this anime is somewhat all about mochi, I want to taste one. Really, does it taste that good? Tamako doesn’t get tired of eating it. Anyway, there’s nothing much to say about the plot so far, but it seems like there’s nothing much special about it. The art is simple but pleasant in eyes. It suits best the relaxing and pleasant feel this anime is giving off.

Verdict: Definitely on my watching list.

GJ-Bu

GJ-Bu

Comment: Hmmm.. I like it, I think. It doesn’t have the best comedy but at least it isn’t boring. An anime about a group of students in the GJ Club sharing nothing in common except for the fact that they have lots of free time. There’s this short ill-tempered loli who gets mad over little things. A chess genius girl who’s a bit ignorant over simple things like eating cup noodles (I admit, I lol’d on that scene). A good natured maid, who’s a little bit of an “s”. A cat girl who always eat on the background. And a simple guy who’s there to let the girls’ personalities shine. There are some hints of a harem on this show, which I wouldn’t mind.

Verdict: This one is a keeper.

And that ends my first impressions for this season’s anime. It took me a while finishing this one because I have lots of things going on at the same time. I pretty much narrowed down the series I’m going to follow this season cause I still have a lot from my backlog. It’s a good thing that only few were able to spark my interest. I’m also following a short, Senyuu.

By the way, I have a good news! I finally caught up with From the New World’s episodes. Yay for me! That anime is awesome in a lot of ways. You should definitely try that one.

For the time being, I will be covering Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, Amnesia and Kotoura-san for my episodic reviews. I’m still 50-50 about Tamako Market though.

Have a cup of tea and let's discuss!
